Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only a hundred million dollars away from hitting the billion mark. The film is still running in theaters and although it no longer dominates the box office, it has not fallen below the second position, despite several new releases. The buzz about Benedict Cumberbatch’s star may have died down, but he’s consistently flowing in the millions at the box office.

It was released exactly a month ago, on May 6, and since then it has been working like a charm. Most fans and critics praised the film, while some had mixed feelings about it. Either way, it became another of Marvel’s hit movies after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Now, according to Box Office Mojo, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the movie has made $909 million at the global box office. This includes $388 million in the United States and $520 million internationally. This is a major milestone for Marvel as well as Benedict Cumberbatch.

Sam Raimi’s achievement is the 11th highest-grossing installment in the MCU and the seventh-highest single-player adventure. It’s pretty spectacular to see the movie achieve this feat even after a month and with more blockbuster movies like Top Gun: Maverick released. As Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has taken another step, the question arises whether it will be able to reach $1 billion?

The next MCU that fans have set their sights on is Thor: Love and Thunder. Previous Chris Hemsworth solo films have done well at the box office. So we can expect a lot from the next installment.

Meanwhile, fans can enjoy starring Benedict Cumberbatch from the comfort of their home as the Marvel movie hits Disney+ on June 22. The announcement was made by the streaming service’s official Twitter page.
