Instant messaging app owned by Facebook WhatsApp According to a WABetaInfo report, we found that we were testing a new feature that allows users to manage chat backups and exclude certain content such as documents and photos from cloud backups. This change is initially meant to be limited to Android users and can work with backups stored in Google Drive. In this report, WABetaInfo indicates that WhatsApp has added a new dedicated section âManage Backup Sizesâ which allows users to manage backup sizes before uploading them to the cloud.
The report shows that WhatsApp for Android Beta 184.108.40.206 appears to have references to updates. According to screenshots shared by WaBetaInfo, a new section allows users to manage the size of their backup by excluding photos, sounds or documents from their backups. These changes were also not introduced in beta testing.
Currently, WhatsApp apps do not have backup size related features. Users only have the option to exclude videos from cloud backups.
WhatsApp has yet to provide official details on allowing users to manage save sizes. According to the report, it could also be due to changes to Google Drive storage for WhatsApp backups. Google Drive currently offers unlimited storage for WhatsApp backups, but that doesn’t always last forever.
