WhatsApp is working again on a new feature for the iOS version of the app. According to a report from WABetaInfo, the next update will allow the app to display the contact’s profile picture in the notification itself. The feature is already available on the Android version of the app. This will help users better understand who is texting them without needing to open the app.

The Facebook-owned giant is currently working on the new feature and there is no official word as to when it will be available to users. This will be one of the first feature updates in 2022 and it will use APIs in iOS 15 to show WhatsApp profile pictures in notifications on the two banners at the top of the screen as well as in the notification center.

For now, the feature appears to only be available to a limited number of testers, and it should be available to as many as possible in the coming weeks. If you are excited about the feature, you must keep an eye out for WhatsApp updates on Apple’s App Store.

On top of that, WhatsApp is also working on a UI change for the iOS app. The Facebook-owned app will soon remove the “Mailing List” and “New Group” option from the iPhone app’s chat screen. Both options will now be placed under the new chat option in order to give the app a cleaner look.
