Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has released the emotional WhatsApp messages that Conjestina Achieng’s son Charltone Otieno sent to him revealing his mother’s condition.
The former county boss, via his official social media accounts on Saturday, July 2, revealed that Otieno sent a message that his mother’s condition was worsening and needed urgent medical attention.
Otieno asked Sonko to step in and help Conjestina regain her form.

“Lately there’s been a picture of her current condition trending on social media that’s so disturbing. Conje is at her worst now and you’re the only person I could think of.
“I am asking if you can provide any kind of support. We wish to get her back to rehab so she can regain her form,” reads Otieno’s message to Sonko.
Sonko, who is trying to succeed Hassan Ali Joho as governor of Mombasa, has revealed that the beleaguered Conjestina family are now planning to take him away for prayers of supplication.
The former Nairobi senator, however, has vowed to continue supporting the former boxing champion.
“However, despite my busy schedule in court and my tribulations, I have decided to continue to help him. I have just sent a car with my team to Siaya to facilitate his movement and I also humbly appeal,” Sonko said.
He also asked other supporters to help Conjestina’s family financially.
Before her boxing career collapsed, Conjestina’s star shone brightly, winning medals and flying the Kenyan flag high.
She stepped into the ring in 2000 after rising through the junior football ranks at the Makongeni estate in Nairobi, inspired by her older brother who was a member of the national boxing team.
After winning and participating in several tournaments, Conjestina fell ill. She was then forced to return to their rural home in Siaya.
She was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder also known as paranoid schizophrenia, a mental disorder that forced her to take off her gloves before full time.
His son, who is also an aspiring boxer, has also been forced to set aside his ambitions to care for the mentally challenged former boxing champion.
